have seen many things since teeth, but have also taken on a new position at work and was quite exhausted for some time. i finally feel a bit evened out and it’s time to rattle off where i’ve been (with maybe some tonys takes thrown in when relevant).
4/11 - Patriots - i’m not sure i’ve been more tired when seeing a play, i am so tired, i am so tired, but every time it comes up in conversation, i find myself yelling about will keen.
4/13 - Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club - since we saw this, eddie obviously was getting a lot of flack on x.com for his tonys performance and i just want to say that i love his creepy, animatronic, side show, expressionistic, european performance.
4/19 - The Outsiders - it was all about the marriage between fight direction and choreography (thank you to the kuperman brothers)
4/20 - Mary Jane - i cried on the train on the way home
4/24 - The Wiz - angrily reporting that this is not worth even mentioning
4/26 - Uncle Vanya - alison pill in her rain boots, and alison pill in an embrace, and alison pill breaking my heart
5/2 - Mother Play - all i want to say about this one is that i saw a certain someone with a breast pocket full of unwrapped twizzlers in the audience, and my life will never be the same
5/3 - The Heart of Rock and Roll - one of the more fun times i’ve had in a big broadway musical. it knew exactly what it was, the actors knew exactly what they were doing, and we all had a great time.
5/10 - Staff Meal at Playwrights Horizons - THIS WAS A MEAL ALL RIGHT. sorry i didn’t tell all of you to see it while you still could. so surprising and hilarious. have never laughed so hard in the theatre before. this play jammed the funniest absurdist monologues up against touching surrealistic images. it grappled with themes of theatre making and story telling: asked us what the fuck we are doing here, and what the fuck they are doing here. will follow abe koogler and all those actors anywhere.
5/16 - Stereophonic - second time up for this one, but first time after the transfer. still loved it, once again lapped up the weird and wonderful will brill
5/18 - Invasive Species - the jeremy o. harris effect is so real
6/2 - Sea Gull - as produced by adult film out here in ridgewood - small and scrappy
6/14 - pre-existing condition - marin ireland’s playwriting debut, seen starring tatiana maslany - we are so blessed
6/18 - Cats: The Jellicle Ball - this might be Your cats, but it’s not My cats
6/20 - Titanic - just wrapped myself up in the lusciousness of the score and that’s all i needed
6/22 - The Welkin - there were impediments to being able to fully enjoy this piece
6/29 - A Little Night Music - concert at David Geffen Hall - i truly can’t help but head bang to a waltz
babies, i’m back! will now continue the regular programming that all ten of you grew to know and love for one months before i ripped it away from you! let me know if you missed me
